Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN) advocates for the rights of women and children and for their economic and social justice. Its program’s focus continues to beon the abolition of child labour, prevention of human trafficking both internal and external, promotion of girl child education and empowerment of women through various innovative strategies working closely with the communities they live in. Under its Anti-Human Trafficking Project, OVN invites applications for the following positions.

Safe Home In charge/Psychosocial Counselor/Cashier Cum Office Assistant

1. Position. Safe Home In charge (Residential) Katmandu Based -1
Key Responsibility:
  • To establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project.
  • To review the quality work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project goal.
  • To work in close collaboration with trained youth, outreach workers and peer educators to ensure optimal psychosocial support to women and children in transit (safe) home and develop the knowledge-base and technical expertise in the care and protection of women and children.
  • To ensure effective operation and management of transit (safe) home and the activities related to the transit (Safe) home. 
  • To serve as the key focal point for the safety of women, children and youth involved in the project.  This will require developing/following and implementing protection strategies and systems, including child protection policies, minimum standards for care services, codes of conduct and guidelines for staff working on the project.
  • To maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all beneficiaries' profiles and service accessibility.
  • Work with the project team, monitor more closely with the team at a safe home, to ensure cohesive efforts, supervise and maintain open lines of communication, and opportunities to discuss what is going well and any emerging problems that may arise.
  • Ensure that the personnel files are properly maintained and kept confidential
  • Lead and assist the team of a safe home in the development of project work plans monitoring budget expenditures as per the approved budget.
  • Develops administrative staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities
  • Qualification Bachelors with minimum 1 years’ experience in counselling/social work or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or exploited children youth and women.
  • Duration: 5 months to 31st December 2022 with the possibility of extension.)

2.  Position: Psychosocial Counselor (Part-time), Kathmandu-Based -1

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual counselling, crisis management, group counselling, trauma healing sessions, BCC & life skill sessions to enhance the capacity of the beneficiaries, particularly of those at the shelter, deliberately and as per need at a safe home and Project field office
  • Responsible to facilitate between beneficiaries and their families to access the integration service and promote healthy behaviour as well as delivering quality counselling to the clients under discussion with relevant staff. 
  • Record keeping of every beneficiary – assessment form, admission, health record file, beneficiaries’ history with needed documentation, counselling, session report, vocational/entrepreneurship training assessment, training plan, re-integration plan, follow-up plan, behaviour progress report (monthly and quarterly) etc.
  • Carry out assessments in relation to psychosocial situations of the survivors of trafficking and those who are at the risk of the same prior to their admission at transit (safe) home. 
  • Initiate to create and maintain the women and child-friendly environment of safe home and working areas.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as per the guidelines regarding all beneficiary profiles and service accessibility. 
  • Ensure effective operation and management of safe home and facilitate the in-house sessions and capacity-building training/ workshop/event.
  • Actively listening to client concerns and empathizing with their position and thus accepting without bias the issues raised by beneficiaries.
  • Observe beneficiaries’ daily activity and behaviours and counsel and mentor for re-integration with vocational training and entrepreneurship.
  • Ensure the client's behaviour and health progress and do the timely evaluation with maintaining the record.
  • Manage and function (feedback) mechanism of Safe Home (example suggestion box) and follow regulations and safety standards.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s with a minimum 1-year experience in counselling/social work with having a recognized certification in psycho-social counselling training OR +2 with a higher academic course on psychosocial counselling with a minimum 1 year’s experience in counselling/social work.

3. Position: Cashier Cum Office Assistant -Kathmandu based- 1

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth office operations in place: timely follow-up and payment request of office utilities (water supplies, electricity, communication voices.), suppliers’ invoices etc.  
  • Assist in organizing project-related visits as required, e.g, staff visits, donor visits, and other visitors.
  • Ensure that logistical preparations for fieldwork, meetings, fieldwork and events are adequate and timely.
  • Handle front office communication and correspondence.
  • Support to Admin/Finance Unit in handling administrative and finance operations including drafting vendor contracts, printing and scanning of the documents with the support of AFO.
  • Ensure motorbike logbook has maintained and prepared vehicle/motorbike log report monthly basis.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the vendors, bank, program colleagues and other related stakeholders for smooth handling of the project finance function.
  • Timely payments of vendor’s bills and settlement of advance, liabilities and receivables etc. and reconcile periodically.
  • Day-to-day support on the financial management of an organization
  • Be familiar with the budget voice expense of the project and assist the project officer Responsible to monitor the front-office area and reception desk/
  • Support to project team for advance settlement and ensures timely advance /request payments.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs; learning to use new equipment.
  • Assist in copying, and forwarding information by receiving and distributing communications,
  • Assist in maintaining supplies by checking the stock to update inventory levels, verifying receipts, stocking items, delivering supplies as and when required, 
  • Update Leave Record, Update Fix Assets, Support to immediate line manager as per needed, 
  • Assist to fax, scan and copy documents, Assist in coordinating logistics activities for visitors
  • Extend support to a cooperative officer in conducting a meeting with beneficiaries.

Qualification

  • Completion of intermediate level or equivalent.
  • Having prior experience in handling logistics and financial operations 

  • Duration: 5 months (up to 31st December 2022 with the possibility of extension.)
